Management


Nat Ostroff
Chairman of the Board, President & CEO


Mr. Ostroff has served as Chairman of the Board since January of 1999. Prior to that, he was President and CEO of Comark Communications, Inc. While in that capacity he was nominated and awarded a Prime Time Emmy Award for outstanding engineering achievement for the development of new UHF transmitter technologies. Mr. Ostroff was the founder of Acrodyne Industries, Inc. in 1968 and served as its first President and CEO. He holds a BSEE degree from Drexel University and an MEEE degree from New York University. Mr. Ostroff has authored numerous papers and presented them worldwide. Mr. Ostroff is also Vice President of New Technology for the Sinclair Broadcast Group. In addition, he is a member of several industry organizations including AFCCE, IEEE, and SBE.

Dan Traynor
Vice President


Dan has over three decades of broadcast experience at Ai and has held various management positions within the organization in production, sales, and general management. His vast knowledge of the past and present Ai product lines proves to be invaluable when assisting customers with after sale support and services. One of Dan's every day goals is to provide the customers with the best possible means of meeting their requirements.

 

Engineering Group

Andrew H. Whiteside

Vice President, Engineering


Andy has an award-winning background in broadcast product development. He received his B.Sc (with Honors) in Physics from the Imperial College of Science and Technology, London University, England in 1976. After a one-year post graduate engineering apprenticeship, he joined the English Electric Valve Company (1977) as a klystron engineer. He worked for five years on the designs and applications of many amplifier types. Included in his responsibilities were klystron products. Andy joined Comark as the Engineering Manager for transmitter products in 1982. He held a number of positions in engineering management leading to his last position as Vice President of Engineering for Thomcast Communications. In 1999 Andy joined the Sinclair Broadcast Group, and in collaboration with Ray Kiesel, formed the Advanced Technology Group to develop equipment for Sinclair’s use. This group was involved in the design and development of new, innovative broadcast transmission products, and was responsible for the IOT based "Quantum" product line, licensed by Acrodyne from Sinclair and introduced at the NAB2000 Show. The Advanced Technology Group was incorporated into Ai in 2000. Andy has been involved in the development and implementation of many new television transmitter products, authoring several technical papers in the process.

Raymond Kiesel
Vice President, Research and Development

Ray also has an award-winning background in broadcast product development. He first joined Acrodyne in 1973 and was involved with UHF and VHF television transmission equipment design and development. After his first nine years at Acrodyne he left to join Comark as Engineering Manager of R&D. During his employment at Comark, Ray was responsible for the design and development of solid-state exciters, high voltage pulsers, multi-standard modulators (analog and digital) as well as a complete line of IOT based transmitters. He was the Program Coordinator for the Emmy award-winning Klystrode IOT UHF television transmitter development effort that was the basis for today’s high power UHF transmitter industry standard. He held a number of positions in engineering management leading to his last position as Vice President of Advanced Development for Thomcast Communications. In 1999 Ray left Thomcast to join the Sinclair Broadcast Group, and in collaboration with Andy Whiteside, formed the Advanced Technology Group to develop equipment for Sinclair’s use. This group was involved in the design and development of new, innovative broadcast transmission products, and was responsible for the IOT based "Quantum" product line, licensed by Acrodyne from Sinclair and introduced at the NAB 2000 Show. The Advanced Technology Group was incorporated into Ai in 2000. Ray has been responsible for the authoring of many technical papers, and holds defining patents for proprietary linearity correction techniques.



Quality/Manufacturing

William J. Burns
Vice President, Manufacturing


With a career in Quality spanning over twenty-five years, Bill is well versed in all aspects of the quality profession. From development of ISO certified Quality Management Systems to supplier relations, Bill is a consummate "hand on" professional. Holding both Management and Engineering positions in the Semiconductor Industry for Kulicke & Soffa Industries and the Defense Electronics Business for Loral Defense Systems, Bill has garnered a wealth of knowledge and experience that he now applies at Acrodyne Industries. During his career, Bill has been awarded a number of Instructor Certifications for Electronics Assembly from the Army, Navy and most recently IPC. Acrodyne presented a unique opportunity for Bill to assemble a Quality Management System from the ground up. In 1996, Bill began to lay the groundwork for the Quality Management System utilized today in the production of the Quantumâ product. While the system has many aspects, the common thread throughout the program is conformance to requirements. Over the past few years, Bill has chaired the implementation of Quality Improvement based on the principles of Philip Crosby. In doing so, Bill has instilled a common quality philosophy throughout the organization. To further instill this philosophy within the organization, Bill also assumed responsibility for the Manufacturing operation at Acrodyne. Now more than ever, quality and a commitment to requirements are a common thread throughout the organization.



Finance & Manufacturing

Richard W. Murray
Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer


Richard has spent his entire career in the Financial sector of various organizations. Working for both private and public companies, he has many years of successful experience in the areas of Finance and Senior Management. Before joining Acrodyne,
Mr. Murray was Chief Financial Officer and General Manager for Fascan International, Inc., an importer
and distributor of articulated cranes for construction industries. For twenty-five years Mr. Murray was
with U.S. Shoe Corp., a NYSE retailer of apparel and footwear, where he held various chief financial officer positions at key divisions throughout the company. Prior to U.S. Shoe Corp. he was in the Dayton, then Cincinnati office, of Deloitte & Touche. He is a member of both the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Ohio Society of Certified Public Accountants.
